Arts Access Classroom Assistant

The Arts Access Classroom Assistant supports the lead instructor with student supervision and, if applicable, instructional assistance during our inclusive classes. Inclusive classes at The Naples Players are designed for students who are on the autism spectrum, have sensory sensitivities, may be living with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or any other type of neuro-divergency. These classes encourage students to learn not only artistic skills but also valuable life skills such as teamwork, patience, sensory awareness, confidence and communication, to name a few.

Responsibilities: Assignments include

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of classroom
  • Take class attendance
  • Assist with Demonstration of games and activities
  • Provide 1:1 Support for students who require additional support needs, as necessary
  • Re-engage students throughout the class, helping them remain focused
  • Escort students to the bathroom, as necessary
  • Monitoring safe pickups after class

Additional duties vary depending on the needs of the class and the background and interests of the classroom assistant. It is preferred if this volunteer has current or previous experience in caregiving, education, counseling/ behavior management, or similar fields. Volunteer MUST be comfortable assisting and working with neurodivergent students with varying levels of abilities.
