Chief Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

Ensure technical anomalies associated with facility mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural systems at the Kennedy Space Center are being resolved properly and adequately documented in accordance with published technical anomaly processes.

Co-chair a monthly engineering review board (ERB) in partnership with the NASA Chief, to provide guidance on technical and/or processing issues of significant concern toward ensuring ability to maintain flight processing readiness, mitigate potential processing impacts, or implement improvements toward ensuring incidents do not re-occur.

Co-chair a monthly configuration control board (CCB) in partnership with the NASA Chief to provide final review and approval of system design and modification proposals toward ensuring the appropriate Operation and Maintenance documentation, follow-on testing, and asset management changes are captured and implemented.

Provide approval of asset and system turn-overs to and from contract during periods when systems are in modification by others or new systems are brought online.

Provide overall guidance of engineering support of flight operations and assist with critical decisions on proper course to take when options are presented utilizing depth of experience with Kennedy Space Center flight processing and launch activities.

Support KSC integrated test team meetings to communicate overall status of systems or special topics when required to advise test team of information needed to make appropriate critical path decisions.

Desired experience

10 or more years engineering experience, preferably within industrial and/or facility and industrial systems operations and maintenance.

Experience with space flight vehicle processing facilities desired.
