HR Manager

Huntsman's Advanced Materials division is now searching for a new HR Manager who will provide HR leadership and support for all HR functions at the McIntosh, Alabama and Rock Hill, South Carolina manufacturing sites. This position will sit at our site in McIntosh, Alabama.

Serve as a valuable member of the both the McIntosh & Rock Hill Site Leadership Teams to design people strategies that help the sites achieve business objectives. The intent is to hire a strong HR professional that can develop and assume larger and more complex HR roles within the Huntsman Organization in the future.

As the HR Manager, you will:

  • As a Site Leadership Team member, design and effectively execute policies, procedures, and decisions regarding the effective management of the McIntosh Manufacturing Site.
  • Responsible for the selection, background check, and staffing process, including Affirmative Action goals.
  • Maintain positive labor relations with the USW bargaining union at the McIntosh Site. This includes contract negotiations and managing the daily application of the contract to work rules and practices including the grievance process up to and including Arbitration.
  • Conduct assessments to ensure compliance with law and maintain record keeping supporting legal and regulatory agency compliance.
  • Responsible for Worker's Compensation, Short and Long Term Disability programs including FMLA, and employee Training and Development.
  • Lead employee relations activities and motivate associates at all levels to achieve desired results - i.e. High-Performance Organization.
  • Control expenses to maintain HR cost centers within budget. Direct financial responsibility of $800k.
  • Provide direction to Site Services Coordinator to implement Site Services duties.
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy standards are met with both business and personnel matters.
  • Design & effectively execute developmental programs for all levels of associates at the McIntosh Site. This includes providing support and guidance to Staff with succession planning and Talent Bank development.
  • Serve as an internal Executive Coach to both Site Managers and other Managers that aids in their leadership development and ensures strong Site employee relations aligned with Huntsman Business Code of Conduct.
  • Lead compensation management process including HUN Grade assessments, cross leveling, career ladder promotion process, and ensure internal equity.
  • Conduct investigations, report findings, and follow up with needed actions as appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional business relationship with management, customers, employees, and community leaders as required.

Skills and experiences required:

  • Bachelor of Science in HR Management or Business with 10+ years specific knowledge of HR compliance with law, labor relations, and payroll and benefit administration required.
  • Experience and comfort level working in a heavy industry/plant environment.
  • Expertise with computer software including automated HRIS, payroll, and databases required.
  • Basic working knowledge of Quality systems, Auditing, EHS, and OSHA requirements needed.
  • A minimum of 10 years HR experience with Staffing, Performance Management, Talent Development, and Disciplinary Action oversight required. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Manager serving previously as member of a leadership team.
  • A minimum of 5 years labor relations experience. Prior union negotiation experience is a plus.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including presentation skills. The ability to filter and immediately respond to questions during site group meetings is necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Inspires trust and ability to establish strong relationships with a diverse group of associates. Demonstrates respect, inclusion, and fairness in alignment with Huntsman's core values.
  • Proven past track record of strong HR leadership and Executive Coaching skills.
  • Musting be willing and able to travel between both sites as needed.
