Position Overview: We are looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our mechanical trades team on the second shift. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician I (MT-I) is to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs in various areas, including HVAC/R, plumbing, residential and commercial appliance repair, and minor electrical work. This role requires a basic level of expertise across all mechanical trade disciplines.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will:
- Ensure all work complies with state, local, and federal codes and regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill through practical hands-on and written testing.
- Be assigned work based on the overall needs of the school.
- Have your skills evaluated through supervisor reviews, work inspections, and maintenance records.
Schedule: This is a full-time role of 40 hours, with a flexible schedule requiring 2 days off. Current shift options are:
- 4-10 hour shifts: Sunday through Wednesday, from 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
- 5-8 hour shifts: Sunday through Thursday, from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.
Compensation and Benefits: This is a bargaining unit position with OPS-464, offering a competitive starting pay of $30.50 per hour plus shift differential. Full-time employees enjoy generous health benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Completion of a post-secondary technical training course or relevant vocational curriculum in HVAC/R, Electrical, Plumbing, or Appliance Repair.
- Alternatively, two years of current work experience in one or more relevant fields in an institutional or commercial setting.
- Basic knowledge of repair and maintenance principles for HVAC/R, plumbing, appliances, and electrical systems.
- Able to read and interpret manufacturer's recommendations, schematics, and blueprints.
- EPA Refrigeration Certification is a plus.
- Valid PA Driver's License in good standing is required; CDL license is a bonus.
- OSHA 10-Hour Training is required; OSHA 30-Hour Training is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
- Demonstrated integrity, as all MHS Staff serve as role models for students.
- Willingness to engage actively with students is required.
