The National Security Sector at Leidos is seeking a cleared TS/SCI Senior Geospatial Linguist (Chinese Focus). This is an exciting opportunity to analyze and conflate information related to feature data in the Geographic Names Database (GNDB), collaborating closely with intelligence community experts in geographic names.
In this role, you will utilize agency guidance and policies to address inquiries regarding the proper usage of names, various Romanization systems, and descriptive information on standardized products. Your work will involve using Geographic Names Processing Systems (GNPS), charts, imagery, and geospatial tools to refine names information for various applications and respond to queries through the Ad Hoc Query process. Additionally, you will prepare files and maps, ensuring accurate data entry to maintain and update the GNDB, which is critical to the success of our mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Scan and geo-reference hardcopy maps, research, and acquire geospatial data sources and commercial imagery to use as reference materials, ensuring they are conflated with the GNDB.
- Interpret and apply national and international policies from bodies such as the US Board on Geographic Names (US BGN), the Department of State (DoS), and NATO.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proficient in GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
- Strong understanding of geographic names collection methodologies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, both as a team member and independent analyst.
- Expertise in research and information gathering.
- Familiarity with commonly used GEOINT sources.
- Experience with native maps, secondary source maps, and historical maps for extraction and comparison.
- Skilled in creating shapefiles, geo-databases, and managing data retrieval/storage.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum proficiency skill level 2 in Reading for all languages as defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Proficiency Levels, or willingness to pass a reading language test of 2+ or higher.
- A Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of experience; additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
- TS/SCI clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in advanced Python scripting.
- Regional geographic proficiency in the pertinent areas at the subject matter expert level.
Location: This position will be based at a customer location in St. Louis, MO.
The Leidos pay range for this position is $89,700.00 - $162,150.00. While this pay range is a general guideline, individual offers may vary based on education, experience, and other factors.
